Font Introduction

Castle Press No1 Font
Castle Press No1 Font is a distinctive serif font recreated by Pilaster Davy from historic wood type discovered at Castle Press, a print works founded in 1860. The font was documented and redrawn just before the print works closed its doors in May 2015. While the original wood type bore the Stephenson Blake stamp, its original name remains unknown. The font features ornamental elements available as stylistic alternates in OpenType-aware applications. Castle Press No1 preserves the authentic character of the original typeface while including limited language support and additional glyphs. It’s available for free personal use, with commercial use requiring a donation to support the designer’s work.
