Erewhon Font Family

The Erewhon Font Family is a serif typeface package developed as an evolution of Andrey Panov’s Heuristica and Adobe’s Utopia, optimized for modern typographic needs. Designed by Michael Sharpe, it features refined proportions with a 6% size reduction from Heuristica to align with Utopia’s scale, while enhancing classical 18th-century aesthetics. Key additions include slanted and italic variants, full small caps across all weights, and extensive figure styles—proportional lining/oldstyle numerals, superiors, inferiors, numerators, and denominators.
Erewhon supports advanced multilingual typesetting with Cyrillic glyphs and improved kerning, making it ideal for academic publications, technical documentation, and editorial designs requiring precise numerical formatting. Licensed under SIL Open Font License, it integrates seamlessly with LaTeX systems through dedicated style files and offers OpenType/TrueType flexibility for digital workflows.
