Jost* Font
Jost is an original font crafted by the innovative type foundry, indestructible type*. Drawing inspiration from 1920s German sans-serifs, this is the latest version, Jost 3.7. The creative mind behind its design and maintenance is Owen Earl, the founder of the indestructible type* font foundry. Notably, in 2020, Owen Earl collaborated with Mirko Velimirovic to transform Jost into a variable font.
Jost* is intentionally imbued with the spirit of Futura, focusing more on maintaining its attitude rather than replicating its exact design. While Futura was originally created for functional purposes in its time, Jost* aligns itself with this ethos, striving to be exceptionally functional in the digital era. In pursuit of this goal, Jost* intentionally deviates from the precise designs of Paul Renner, opting for a larger x-height and more balanced capital forms, among other adjustments. Additionally, Jost* incorporates features that would not have been feasible during the Futura era.
