Ojuju Font
Ojuju is an innovative reverse-contrast weight-axis variable font inspired by the vibrancy and color of African masquerades. Drawing from traditional African dance costumes, especially the masks worn by Dogon dancers from Mali, Ojuju incorporates these elements into its unique design. The aperture shape of the typeface and the counter-formal placement of many letter forms are inspired by these masks.
Furthermore, Ojuju takes inspiration from African movie poster lettering from the 1970s to refine its expression within the design space. This fusion allows the font to retain the characteristics of African culture while maintaining a modern and fashionable aesthetic.
As an SSA (Sub-Saharan African) Latin glyph font, Ojuju overlays all other related glyphs from Google in the design space. Whether used for print, digital media, or web design, Ojuju brings a sense of African culture and vitality to text with its unique charm and expressiveness.
